SAO PAULO (AP) Young forward Luan scored a goal in each half to lead Gremio to a historic 5-0 win over Internacional in the Brazilian league on Sunday.

Gremio hadn't scored five goals against its fierce Porto Alegre rival since the 1960s, and the margin of victory was its biggest over Internacional in more than 100 years.

The result in front of more than 45,000 fans at the Arena Gremio helped the hosts end a three-game winless streak, and propelled them from eighth to third in the standings.

Giuliano opened the scoring in the 37th and Luan added to the lead with goals in the 44th and 49th minutes. Fernandinho netted in the 76th and the final score was an own goal by Inter defender Rever in the 83rd.

The rout could have been even worse if Gremio playmaker Douglas hadn't missed a first-half penalty with the game still level at 0-0. It was Internacional's first game since Uruguayan coach Diego Aguirre was fired.

Gremio was the only team among the first nine in the standings to win this weekend. It reached 30 points from 17 matches, six points less than leader Atletico Mineiro, which was held by Goias to a scoreless draw in Goiania.

Second place Corinthians drew rival Sao Paulo 1-1 at the Morumbi Stadium, while fourth-place Fluminense, in its second match with Ronaldinho in the lineup, lost 1-0 at Avai on Saturday.

Fifth-place Sport was close to victory but conceded an equalizer six minutes into injury time at sixth-place Atletico Paranaense in Curitiba.

Palmeiras remained stuck in seventh place after a 2-1 loss at two-time defending champion Cruzeiro, which moved to 11th place. It was the second defeat in a row for Palmeiras after a series of eight unbeaten games. Uruguayan midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta scored Cruzeiro's winner in the 81st, and Argentine striker Jonathan Cristaldo netted Palmeiras' goal less than 20 second after coming into the match as a substitute.

Also Sunday, Ponte Preta defeated Flamengo 1-0, while Vasco da Gama missed a chance to leave relegation zone by drawing Joinville 0-0 at the Maracana Stadium.

On Saturday, Santos beat last-place Coritiba 3-0 at the Vila Belmiro Stadium, winning for the third time in the last five matches and jumping to 14th in the 20-team standings.
