KPMG Women's PGA Championship to be played at Sahalee near Seattle in 2016

HARRISON, N.Y. – The Women's PGA Championship will be played for the first time in the Pacific Northwest next year.

Tournament officials announced Saturday that the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington, has been chosen to host the 2016 KPMG Women's PGA Championship.

The course, about 23 miles east of Seattle, was the site of the 1998 PGA Championship and the 2010 Senior Open.

This will be just the second time a women's major has been held in Washington. The inaugural U.S. Women's Open was played in Spokane in 1946.

The announcement was made Saturday during the third round of this year's Women's PGA Championship, which is being played at the Westchester Country Club in New York.

The $3.5 million championship is operated by the PGA of America in collaboration with the LPGA.
