Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Marlins optioned struggling reliever Steve Cishek to Double-A Jacksonville following Monday's 5-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

Marlins manager Dan Jennings wants Cishek, the club's former closer, to "work on some mechanical things."

Cishek, who saved a combined 73 games over the past two years, was bumped from the closer's role last month. He is 1-5 with 6.98 ERA and four blown saves this season.

Jennings said a corresponding move will be announced Tuesday.
