Ensenada, MX (SportsNetwork.com) - Javier Mendoza retained his IBF light flyweight title with a sixth-round technical decision over Milan Melindo Saturday night.
Mendoza (24-2,-1, 19 KOs) was ahead 60-52 from two judges and 59-53 from the third judge when referee Gerard White halted the bout with 21 seconds left in the sixth round.
Melindo (32-2, 12 KOs) suffered a cut over his right eye and Mendoza sustained a cut over his left eye as a result of a clash of heads.
