Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The PGA Tour and Mackenzie Investments announced a six-year deal that made the investment firm the umbrella sponsor for the PGA Tour Canada.

The tour will be known as the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada.

"We are extremely pleased to announce this landmark sponsorship and to welcome Mackenzie as the umbrella sponsor of PGA Tour Canada," said PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem. "Mackenzie's involvement will enable us to continue to strengthen and grow the tour throughout Canada."

This marks the first umbrella sponsorship for the tour. The PGA Tour started aiding the Canadian Professional Golf Tour in 2012 and took control of the tour a year later.

Players that finish in the top five on the The Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada Order of Merit gain status on the Web.com Tour the following season. Those that finish sixth to 10th on the Order of Merit are exempt into the final stage of Web.com Tour Q School.

"This commitment by Mackenzie will provide long-term continuity to the tour and impact the charitable mission of our tournaments," said Jeff Monday, President of the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada. "By strengthening our tour through Mackenzie's support, our members will have a greater opportunity to pursue their ultimate goal of someday playing on the PGA Tour."
