Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Oakland Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker will undergo surgery on his right elbow on Tuesday, the team has announced.

The surgery will stabilize the medial epicondyle fracture that Parker suffered while pitching on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville earlier this month. The right-hander had been working his way back from a second Tommy John surgery.

"Got the best of the bad news... Just a break that'll be fixed tomorrow!" Parker tweeted.

There was a possibility that he might have needed to undergo a third Tommy John procedure.
