New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has been named the NBA's Executive of the Year for the 2014-15 season.
Myers received 13 first-place votes and a total of 82 points from a panel of team executives throughout the NBA, edging Cleveland's David Griffin for the honor. Griffin earned eight first-place votes and 69 points.
Atlanta's Mike Budenholzer, recently selected as the NBA's top coach, was third with four first-place votes and 36 points. Boston's Danny Ainge finished fourth in the balloting.
Myers' biggest move last offseason was the hiring of coach Steve Kerr, who led the Warriors to the NBA's best record of 67-15. Kerr had no prior coaching experience and took a team that had won 51 games in 2013-14 to an increase of 16 wins -- the most for a team that had won at least 50 games the previous season.
In addition, Myers also signed sharpshooter Klay Thompson to a long-term deal and added depth to the Warriors' backcourt with the signing of guard Shaun Livingston.
Myers, in his third season with the club, is the second Warriors executive to win the honor. Dick Vertlieb was the first in 1974-75.
