(SportsNetwork.com) - With Eric Berry still battling against Hodgkin lymphoma, the Chiefs could use help on the back end and Landon Collins is the one safety in this draft who had carried a first- round grade throughout the process.
That's changing though as Collins' stock seems to be falling while Arizona State's Damarious Randall is heading north on most big boards. Either would make sense for the Chiefs' at No. 18 overall.
That draft positioning could be a little too high to take either of those prospects, however and Kansas City general manager John Dorsey is also big on building up the fronts on both sides, putting the offensive line and the front seven on defense in play.
"I think the hard part is, as you go through this thing is, at different points of this draft making sure that you are doing what is best for the organization," Dorsey said. "And that is studying the first round all the way down to free agency and making sure that you have everything completed, and all of your facts, and you've had discussion points, and you've laid out, and you've turned over every stone to make sure that that top guy all the way down to the bottom guy, you have done all of your research with regards to those players."
