Dortmund, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Borussia Dortmund scored three times in the span of 32 second-half minutes to secure a 3-0 home victory over Paderborn just days after manager Jurgen Klopp announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Klopp has spent the past seven years at Dortmund, and the announcement certainly had to rattle a club that has underachieved in the Bundesliga this term.
Dortmund still has a chance at claiming a Europa League spot with a good finish to the season, while Paderborn entered the contest two points from safety and fighting to stay up.
The hosts were thwarted a handful of times in the first half by Paderborn goalkeeper Lukas Kruse, but they turned things up after the break and pushed on to claim all three points.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan notched the opening tally in the 48th minute when he got on the end of a cross from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and turned a header past Kruse from six yards.
The goal seemed to open things up for Dortmund and Aubameyang found the net himself seven minutes later after he was played through on goal by Matthias Ginter and lifted a shot over the head of Kruse and into the net.
Aubameyang had the ball in the net once again but it was ruled out for offside, while Shinji Kagawa capped the scoring 10 minutes from time after taking down a long ball from Mkhitaryan and slotting his shot past Kruse.
Bayern Munich moved 13 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga with a 2-0 win at Hoffenheim as Sebastian Rode scored in the 38th minute before a 90th- minute own goal from Andreas Beck killed off the match.
Bayer Leverkusen moved into third place after a comfortable 4-0 win over Hannover, Shinji Okazaki scored a first-half brace to help Mainz down Freiburg, 3-2, Hertha Berlin and Cologne battled to a 0-0 draw and Augsburg secured a 2-1 win over Stuttgart with a goal in the 74th minute Raul Bobadilla.
