Gainesville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Grant has returned to Florida as an assistant basketball coach.

Grant was fired after six seasons as Alabama's head coach and will be back on the Florida bench, where he spent 10 years as an assistant under Billy Donovan before leaving to take the vacancy at VCU. He also coached under Donovan for two years at Marshall.

The Gators had an opening for an assistant when Matt McCall took the head coaching position at Chattanooga.

Grant had a record of 76-25 with two NCAA Tournament appearances in three seasons at VCU, then went 117-85 with one NCAA berth in six years at Alabama.
