Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Cowboys and linebacker Rolando McClain agreed to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

McClain, 25, received an offer from the New England Patriots after visiting them earlier in the week, but chose an offer from the Cowboys that is reportedly worth $3 million. He can earn an additional $1 million in incentives.

The former first-round pick proved to be a valuable addition to the Cowboys last season following two failed retirements, registering 81 tackles, two interceptions and a force fumble in 13 games. He battled injuries for much of the season and left both playoff games with concussions.

McClain is expected to be fined four game checks to open next season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
