Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Andrew Hammond made 27 saves and stopped all three shootout attempts to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.
Bobby Ryan beat Ray Emery to begin the third round of the shootout, and Hammond secured the extra point by stopping Claude Giroux.
The rookie goaltender has allowed two or fewer goals in each of his first 11 career NHL starts, going 10-0-1 and helping the Senators get within five points of a playoff spot.
"He's giving us a chance every night," Ryan said of Hammond.
Ottawa, 13-2-2 in its last 17 games, nearly scored at the end of regulation as Milan Michalek rang a shot off the post.
Emery also finished with 27 saves for a Flyers team that has dropped six straight on the road (0-3-3). They have lost five of six overall.
"I thought that Ray made some good saves for us when he had to, and I thought that we played pretty smart," said Philadelphia coach Craig Berube.
The teams traded goals in the second period.
Emery made a save on Mark Borowiecki's shot from the top of the right circle, but Jean-Gabriel Pageau batted the rebound out of the air past the Philadelphia goaltender at 5:19.
Jakub Voracek beat Hammond over the glove with a slap shot from above the left circle at 12:12.

The Flyers began a four-game Canadian road trip ... Both teams were 0-for-3 on the power play.
