Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Scott Hartnell scored the go-ahead goal as the Columbus Blue Jackets downed the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 on Thursday.

Fedor Tyutin and Cam Atkinson also lit the lamp, while Sergei Bobrovsky was outstanding in net, making 41 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have won three of their last four games.

Justin Abdelkader netted Detroit's lone goal while on the power play and Jimmy Howard allowed all three goals on 26 shots in defeat.

"We have to find a way night in and night out," said Howard. "You just have to find a way to fight through it."

Tied 1-1, Columbus went ahead with 3:36 left in the opening stanza as Hartnell one-timed a shot through Howard's pads in front.

Atkinson took a drop pass from David Savard, skated up to left circle and wristed the puck off Howard's glove for a power-play goal and a 3-1 lead with 1:30 left in the middle stanza.

The Red Wings pulled Howard with just under three minutes to play, but were unable to force overtime.

Detroit took advantage of Luke Adam's double-minor high-sticking penalty and opened the scoring on Abdelkader's tip of Marek Zidlicky's point blast 7:49 into the game.

Tyutin tied the game with 7:36 left in the first period as he jumped up on the play, accepted Nick Foligno's cross-ice feed and wristed a shot over Howard's blocker.
