Peoria, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Diego Padres revealed on Monday that catcher Tim Federowicz sustained a torn meniscus and is likely headed for surgery.

Federowicz suffered the injury to his right knee during Sunday's 7-5 Cactus League loss to the Colorado Rockies. He was on crutches at the team facility on Monday and later underwent an MRI which revealed the damage.

The 27-year-old backstop hit .113 in 23 games as a reserve for the Dodgers last season, but committed just three errors in 172 chances for a .983 fielding percentage.
