Monterrey, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - The first round matches for the Monterrey Open were postponed due to rain on Monday.

Heavy rains disallowed play to start at the event, where fifth-seeded and three-time champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was set to play Anna Schmiedlova. Meanwhile, Kristina Mladenovic and Tereza Smitkova were due to play, as were Johanna Larsson and Kiki Bertens, and Polona Hercog and Ana Sofia Sanchez.

This week's top seeds are reigning Monterrey champ and former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic and former French Open finalist Sara Errani.

Ivanovic beat Jovana Jaksic in last year's finale.

The 2015 Monterrey titlist will earn $111,389.
