Chonburi, Thailand (SportsNetwork.com) - Stacy Lewis stumbled to a bogey on the final hole Thursday to slip back into a share of the lead after one round of the Honda LPGA Thailand.
Lewis carded a 6-under 66 and was joined in the lead by Yani Tseng and Brittany Lang. Lewis has posted three straight top-five finishes at this event, while Tseng has won the title twice and has finished inside the top seven in each of her six appearances. Lang owns a pair of top-10 finishes at this tournament as well, but they came in 2006 and 2009.
While those three share the lead at Siam Country Club, there are 10 more players within two strokes.
Suzann Pettersen, the 2010 runner-up, posted a 5-under 67 on Thursday. She shares fourth place with Amy Yang, Mirim Lee, 2013 runner-up Ariya Jutanugarn, Lizette Salas and amateur Budsabakorn Sukapan.
Caroline Hedwall, reigning Women's British Open champion Mo Martin, Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson are one stroke further back at minus-4.
Lewis got off to a quick start as she holed a wedge shot at the first for eagle. She came back with birdies at the third and fifth to quickly move to minus-4.
The former world No. 1 poured in three consecutive birdies from the seventh to card a 7-under 29 on the front nine.
"No. 1 was just a bonus, you know, holing out with a wedge shot there. Just hit a lot of the good solid shots and made a few putts," said Lewis. "I don't know if I've ever shot 29 before, so it was cool. Just to get on a run like that was pretty cool."
Around the turn, Lewis moved to minus-8 with a birdie on the par-3 12th. However, she gave that stroke right back as she stumbled to a bogey on the 13th.
Lewis found sand with her tee shot at the par-5 18th. After playing her second down the fairway, she narrowly missed the green with her third. A poor chip led to a closing bogey.
Tseng, also a former world No. 1, birdied the first. After five pars in a row, she birdied the seventh.
The 2011 and 2012 champion kept rolling as she also birdied eight, nine and 10 to move to 5-under.
Back-to-back birdies at 14 and 15 put Tseng at minus-7. Like Lewis, Tseng faltered to a bogey at the last to slip into a share of the lead.
Lang, who played the back nine first on Thursday, got off to a fast start as she birdied three of the first four holes. Birdies at 15 and 17 moved Lang to minus-5.
Like her co-leaders, Lang tripped to a bogey at No. 18. She parred the first five holes of her second nine. After stumbling to another bogey at the sixth, Lang closed her round with three straight birdies from the seventh.
"I played great. I got off to a good start with birdies on 10 and 11. I've been playing good for a long time," Lang stated. "I was locked in. I was just really seeing my shots and committing to them. Just felt effortless really. It's kind of one of those days that's just so much fun because it's just effortless."
NOTES: Lewis has finished inside the top-11 in her two starts this season, while Tseng missed the cut in her only start last week in Australia and Lang finished seventh in the season-opening Coates Golf Championship ... Tseng owns a piece of the first-round lead for the first time since the 2012 Canadian Women's Open ... Defending champion Anna Nordqvist opened with an even-par 72, while 2011 runner-up Michelle Wie stumbled to a 1-over 73.
