Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Canucks goaltender Ryan Miller is heading back to Vancouver for an MRI exam after sustaining a lower-body injury during the second period of Sunday's 4-0 road win against the New York Islanders.

General manager Jim Benning made the announcement Monday while speaking to the media in Boston. The Canucks play the Bruins on Tuesday, the fourth stop on their five-game trip.

Jacob Markstrom has been recalled from Utica of the American Hockey League and will join the team in Boston.

Miller was injured when teammate Jannik Hansen crashed into the net and made contact with his right leg.

The 34-year-old veteran is 28-15-1 with a 2.47 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage this season.
