Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Calgary Flames placed forward Paul Byron on injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury.

According to the Calgary Sun, Flames head coach Bob Hartley said that Byron is suffering from a "whole body injury."

Byron, who has six goals and 12 assists this season, traveled with the team for their seven-game road trip that begins Tuesday against the New York Rangers.

The Flames also placed forward Matt Stajan on leave as he attends to the upcoming birth of his child. Stajan has four goals and six assists this season.

To fill the roster spots, the Flames recalled forwards Michael Ferland and Emile Poirier from the Adirondack Flames of the American Hockey League.
