East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Ann Mara, the mother of New York Giants co-owner John Mara, died Sunday. She was 85.

Ann Mara died after complications arose following a fall in front of her home during an ice storm on Jan. 18.

"I am sad to say that our mother has passed away," said John Mara in a statement Sunday. "She has been the leader of our family in every way, and we will miss her dearly. She loved her family, and all of us were able to spend time with her in these final days. All 11 of her children and our spouses and numerous grandchildren were with her when she passed away."

Ann Mara was married to Wellington Mara, who died in 2005 at the age of 89. The two were married in 1954, two years after they met at a Manhattan church.

Wellington Mara was the son of Giants founder Tim Mara.

The Mara family owned the Giants solely from 1925 until 1991 when Bob Tisch purchased half of the franchise.

Three of Wellington and Ann Mara's sons currently work in the Giants' front office. In addition to John, Chris is the senior vice president of player evaluation and Frank is the vice president of community relations.

Ann Mara attended nearly every Giants game for nearly 60 years.
