Auckland, New Zealand (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Anderson won his quarterfinal matchup Thursday at the Heineken Open, a final tune-up for the Australian Open.

The fourth-seeded South African defeated eighth seed Steve Johnson of the United States 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) on the hardcourts at ASB Tennis Centre.

Czech qualifier Jiri Vesely, who knocked out second-seeded Ernests Gulbis on Wednesday, downed American Donald Young, 6-2, 6-3.

Also on Day 4, Adrian Mannarino topped Colombian lucky loser Alejandro Falla 6-3, 6-1 and lucky loser Lucas Pouille beat Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-3, 6-2.

Friday's semifinals will pit Anderson against Vesely and Pouille versus his fellow Frenchman Mannarino.

This year's Auckland champion will earn $84,500.
