Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Prior to Friday's contest against the New York Islanders, the New Jersey Devils activated forward Jacob Josefson from injured reserve and placed defenseman Eric Gelinas on IR.

Josefson missed the last six games due to an unspecified illness the club neither confirmed nor denied was mumps. The 23-year-old Swede has totaled only one goal and two assists in 26 games this season.

Gelinas has been sidetracked by the flu. A 23-year-old native of Ontario, the former second-round pick in 2009 is tied for the team lead among blueliners with four goals along with 11 points.
