London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - QPR has announced the signing of forward Mauro Zarate on loan from West Ham for the remainder of the season.

The 27-year-old joined West Ham from Velez Sarsfield over the summer, but he has managed to appear in only eight games for the Hammers since his move, scoring two goals.

"I am happy," Zarate said in a statement on the QPR website. "I need this, I need to play, and Queens Park Rangers have given me this chance to show what I can do.

"I will try to do different things with the ball, some skills to make the difference for the team, for me and for the other players. I am fit and I hope I can be involved on Saturday."

Zarate could feature in Saturday's fixture at Burnley, which is an important relegation battle with Rangers just two points above the drop zone.

Prior to his move to West Ham, Zarate scored 19 times in 29 matches for Velez Sarsfield in Argentina, while he appeared in over 100 games for Lazio from 2008-13, scoring 25 goals.
