Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Edmonton Oilers assigned rookie forward Leon Draisaitl back to juniors on Sunday.

Draisaitl, the third overall pick in the 2014 draft, played in 37 games for the league-worst Oilers, posting two goals, seven assists and a minus-17 rating.

Edmonton used up the first year of the German's entry-level contract by allowing him to play in at least 10 games. He would have been eligible to become an unrestricted free agent a year earlier had he reached the 40-game mark.
