Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson will address the Europe team during the buildup to the Ryder Cup.

Europe captain Paul McGinley says on Tuesday, "This is not about him being a headmaster and coming in and preaching to them. This is about fun."

Ferguson, a Scot who retired as United manager last year after more than 26 trophy-filled seasons at Old Trafford, was spotted walking around Gleneagles early Tuesday.

McGinley says he asked Ferguson to talk to the team after he was made captain at the start of 2013. and wanted to keep it a surprise to the players.

McGinley says, "The one thing he asked me to do was keep it really quiet. And walking around is not keeping it quiet, is it, when he's onsite."
