Englewood, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Broncos signed wide receiver Nathan Palmer to their active roster on Wednesday.

Palmer, a second-year player, spent the end of the 2013 season on Denver's practice squad and appeared in four games for the Broncos this preseason. He was waived by the club on Aug. 30, before being added to the practice squad the following day.

A roster spot opened Tuesday when receiver Wes Welker was suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

The Broncos also signed guard Ryan Miller to their practice squad on Wednesday.

Miller, also in his second NFL season, competed in all four games for the Broncos this preseason before being waived on Aug. 30.

The former University of Colorado product played eight games as a rookie for Cleveland in 2012 after being selected by the Browns in the fifth round (160th overall) of the NFL Draft.
