Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Kansas City Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura has been scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday against Minnesota because of back tightness.

Ventura pitched six innings in his last start on Friday against Texas and earned the victory, but developed pain after the outing. He underwent an MRI exam that revealed inflammation.

Royals manager Ned Yost said he hopes Ventura will miss just the one start.

Ventura is 10-9 with a 3.40 ERA in 25 games, all but one as a starter, this season.

Yost said Liam Hendriks will be recalled from Triple-A Omaha to start on Wednesday against the Twins. Hendriks was acquired from the Blue Jays in the July 28 deal that sent third baseman Danny Valencia to Toronto.

The Royals will make a roster move prior to Wednesday's game.
