Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Defensive end Alejandro Villanueva and linebacker Jake Knott were among the first wave of cuts by the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.

Villanueva, who played his collegiate football at Army, spent the last four years serving three tours of Afghanistan and was most recently promoted to captain. He has earned numerous honors for his service, including the Bronze Star Medal for valor.

Knott posted eight tackles over 12 games in his rookie season last year, but was due to be suspended for the first four games this season for PED use.

Others among the 14 Philadelphia cuts included tight ends Blake Annen and Emil Igwenagu, offensive linemen Michael Bamiro, Karim Barton and Donald Hawkins, wide receivers Kadron Boone and B.J. Cunningham, defensive ends Joe Kruger and Frances Mays, defensive backs Davon Morgan and Daytawion Lowe and kicker Carey Spear.
