Jacksonville Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart has returned to practice after missing nearly two weeks with a hip flexor injury.

Gerhart last practiced July 31. He missed a scrimmage and the team's preseason opener against Tampa Bay on Friday. Jordan Todman, Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson split repetitions with the first-team offense during his absence.

Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch says Gerhart's return could mean he plays Thursday at Chicago, adding "We just have to see how he does coming back."

Fisch adds he "would like to see Toby run the ball a little bit."

The Jaguars gave Gerhart a three-year contract worth $10.5 million in March to replace Maurice Jones-Drew. Gerhart spent the last four years backing up All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson in Minnesota, totaling 1,305 yards rushing and five touchdowns.
