Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Colorado Rockies placed outfielder Carlos Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with left knee patella tendinitis and a right ankle sprain.

Gonzalez was pulled from Friday's game against Arizona after striking out in all three at-bats, then sat out Saturday's game.

He had missed a month earlier in the season after having a benign tumor removed from his left index finger.

The 28-year-old has struggled this season, batting just .238 with 11 home runs and 38 RBI in 70 games.

To take his spot on the roster, the team recalled infielder Ben Paulsen from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Paulsen had 10 hits in 22 at-bats over seven games from July 21-28, his first stint in the majors.
