Kim takes over lead at Price Cutter Charity Championship

Springfield, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Kim shot a bogey-free, 6-under 66 on Friday and he took over the lead by one shot at the Price Cutter Charity Championship.

Kim finished 36 holes at 13-under 131 and heads into the weekend with a 1-shot advantage over first-round leader Cameron Percy, Steven Alker, Scott Pinckney, Alexandre Rocha and Martin Piller.

Kim has yet to record a win on tour, with his best finish of the season coming at the Cleveland Open, where he ended tied for 10th. He has missed the cut in seven of 13 events this year.

Rocha fired one of the best rounds of the day with a 64 at Highland Springs Country Club. He is joined in a tie for second with Alker (65), Pinckney (65), Piller (67) and Percy (68) at 12-under 132.

Sebastian Cappelen carded the best round of the week with a 9-under 63 and that vaulted him into a tie for seventh at 11-under with Zac Blair (67).

Kim began his day on the front nine and started things off with a par at No. 1. Back-to-back birdies at two and three had Kim in red numbers for his second round, and he added another gain at No. 6 to get to 3-under before making the turn with three straight pars.

Another par at 10 preceded his fourth birdie at No. 11. Gains at 16 and 18 completed Kim's bogey-free day and he ended his second round at minus-6 and 13-under through 36 holes.

"I was just hitting the ball really well," Kim said. "I didn't miss many greens and I made some good par putts that kept the momentum going today."

After finishing off the last hole of his first round early Friday morning, Percy did not get off to a great start in his second round with a bogey at the first. He responded right away, however, with a birdie at two to get back to even-par for the day.

Two more gains at five and eight had Percy at minus-2, but another bogey at nine dropped him another shot as he made the turn. Percy then staggered three birdies at 11, 15 and 18 to go along with six pars, ending 36 holes at minus- 12.

Alker made five birdies on the back nine, his front, and made two more at two and eight in his bogey-free round.

"I'm playing solid golf," Alker said. "The conditions are soft, so I know that I have to keep going low."

Pinckney made eight birdies to go along with one bogey, while Rocha finished his day with four straight birdies from No. 6. He had seven birdies to go along with an eagle at 11 and a bogey at 14.

Piller also had seven birdies in his second round, but he also tripped to bogeys at nine and 14 and finished at 5-under for the day.

NOTES: With the cut falling at 5-under 139, 70 players will play the weekend ... Kim is currently No. 96 on the Web.com Tour money list ... Percy has finished in the top 10 three times this year in 16 events, with his best finish coming at the Air Capital Classic, where he tied for third ... Cappelen's 63 on Friday was a season-low for him on tour.
