Bourbonnais, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett was suspended Tuesday for conduct detrimental to the team after an incident in practice on Monday.

According to the club's website, Bennett slammed rookie cornerback Kyle Fuller to the ground after the first-round pick spun the veteran around on a tackle after a reception.

The length of the suspension was not disclosed. Bennett was also fined.

Following the incident, Bears coach Marc Trestman halted practice.

"Things happen in practice, it doesn't happen very often," Trestman said Monday. "Families fight, families have moments like that. We have to continue to talk through it. People get to that place sometimes and we have to let them cool down."

Bennett is in his second season with the Bears after playing one season with the Giants and four with Dallas. He had career highs of 65 receptions for 759 yards with five touchdowns in 16 games last year.
