The Court of Arbitration for Sport says it could rule on Luis Suarez's appeal of his biting ban before the Spanish league season starts.

CAS says Suarez, the Uruguay federation and Barcelona have filed a request for a fast-track appeal of FIFA's ban for nine competitive international matches and four months from all soccer.

The court says in a statement to The Associated Press that "it is likely that a final award will be rendered well before the end of August."

The Spanish league season begins the weekend of Aug. 23-24.

FIFA must also agree to a fast-track procedure.

The court says no hearing dates have been set, and no arbitrators have yet been appointed to hear the case.
