New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis was named American League Player of the Week for the third time in his career on Monday.

Kipnis batted .333 (5-for-15) with two homers, four walks and six RBI as the Indians opened their post-All-Star schedule by taking three of four from the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers.

He also won the award twice last season.
