New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Cincinnati Reds hurler Alfredo Simon and Washington Nationals reliever Tyler Clippard were named to the National League All-Star team on Sunday.

Simon was tabbed by Cards skipper and Senior Circuit manager Mike Matheny to replace his Cincinnati teammate, starter Johnny Cueto -- who started Sunday's series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The imposing, 6-foot-6 presence on the mound has gone 12-3 with a 2.70 earned run average in 116 2/3 innings over 18 starts this season.

Clippard, who previously represented the Nats in 2011, was named a sub for Julio Teheran of the Atlanta Braves -- also a Sunday starter. The 29-year-old Clippard has gone 6-2 with a 2.03 ERA in 43 appearances this year.
