Bastad, Sweden (SportsNetwork.com) - Fourth seed Jerzy Janowicz suffered a second-round upset Wednesday at the Swedish Open.

Serbian Dusan Lajovic was leading the 6-foot-8 Pole 6-3, 1-1 when Janowicz retired on the red clay at Bastad Tennis Stadium.

Another upset was averted when fifth-seeded Portuguese Joao Sousa doused Sweden's Elias Ymer, 6-3, 7-5 and one other result saw Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas overcome Swede Christian Lindell 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) on Day 3.

The 2014 Bastad titlist will collect $105,000.
