MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens have signed free-agent forward Manny Malhotra.
The veteran center's agent says he has signed a one-year deal worth $850,000.
The 34-year-old Malhotra, who has come back from a career-threatening eye injury suffered in 2011, had seven goals and six assists in 69 games with the Carolina Hurricanes last season.
The deal with Malhotra comes a day after the Habs traded veteran forward Daniel Briere to the Colorado Avalanche.
