Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Miguel Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI as the Detroit Tigers completed a three-game sweep of the Cleveland Indians with a 10-4 romp at Progressive Field on Sunday.
Ian Kinsler recorded three hits, two runs scored and an RBI, while Nick Castellanos doubled twice, scored twice and drove in two runs for the victors.
Max Scherzer (9-3) bounced back from a rough outing his last time out with six innings of one-run ball as the AL Central-leading Tigers won their fourth straight game after dropping three in a row to the second-place Royals.
"It was a good all-around day for us," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said.
Michael Brantley went 3-for-5 with three RBI for the Indians, while Josh Tomlin (4-5) suffered his third consecutive loss after allowing eight runs -- five earned -- on eight hits and two walks. He was pulled in the fifth without recording an out.
Cabrera launched his 13th home run of the year in the first inning, added an RBI single after Kinsler led off the third with a double and drove in another run during a seven-run fifth that broke the game open.
Kinsler and Austin Jackson both singled to put runners on the corners, and Cabrera bounced a run-scoring ground ball to the right side. Jackson was ruled out on a force at second, but the call was overturned when replay showed Asdrubal Cabrera dropped the ball, rather than lose it on the exchange.
"If you give them extra opportunities, you're going to pay for it," Indians manager Terry Francona said.
Victor Martinez's line drive was dropped by Michael Bourn to load the bases, and J.D. Martinez sent one over the center fielder's head for a two-run double.
Castellanos chased Tomlin with a two-bagger that plated two more, then scored on Andrew Romine's bloop hit to right-center. Kinsler capped the big inning with an RBI single to left.
Scherzer, who was tagged for 10 runs against Kansas City on Tuesday, gave up his only run in the fifth when Bourn scored on Brantley's double.
Alex Avila doubled home Castellanos in the sixth to account for the Tigers' final run, while the Indians scored three in the ninth -- two on another Brantley double -- for the final tally.
