Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Homer Bailey had an impressive day, firing eight innings of one-run ball and driving in two runs, to help guide the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-1 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies in the rubber match of a three-game set at Great American Ball Park on Sunday.
Bailey (7-3) allowed just six hits and three walks while fanning seven to win his fourth consecutive start. He also hit the go-ahead two-run single in the fifth to support his own cause.
Billy Hamilton stroked a two-run home run for the Reds, winners of two straight after a three-game skid.
In his fourth career start, David Buchanan (1-3) lasted six innings, yielding four runs on six hits but tied a career best of six strikeouts in the loss.
Chase Utley drove in the lone run on a sacrifice fly for the Phillies, who continue to struggle with their eighth loss in nine contests.
