Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets placed starting pitcher Dillon Gee on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with a strained right lat.

The move is retroactive to May 11 and no timetable is set for his return.

Gee is 3-1 with a 2.73 ERA in eight starts this season for the Mets. The right-hander picked up a no-decision against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings.

The 28-year-old has gone 36-27 with an ERA of 3.78 in five major league seasons, all with the Mets.

The club also selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Rafael Montero from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Montero, one of the Mets' top pitching prospects, went 4-1 with a 3.67 ERA in eight starts with Las Vegas this year. He is set to make his major league debut Wednesday night against the Yankees.

Right-handed pitcher Jacob deGrom, who was recalled from Las Vegas on Tuesday, will make his first major league start on Thursday against the Yankees.
