RBNY hopes to extend unbeaten run against Fire

Harrison, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Red Bull New York will hope to extend its four-match unbeaten run on Saturday when the club welcomes the Chicago Fire to Red Bull Arena.

Saturday's clash will be a rematch of a 1-1 draw between the two sides at Toyota Park on March 23. The Red Bulls are 3-1-3 since that game, rising to a four-way tie for top spot in the Eastern Conference with 14 points on the season.

New York most recently earned a 1-0 win over FC Dallas, a fortunate result given that Luis Robles was forced to save a second-half penalty to keep the two sides level.

"I think he's carrying that confidence from middle-to-end of last year and carrying it right into the preseason this year and right into the beginning (of the regular season)," Red Bulls head coach Mike Petke said after the match. "A confident goalkeeper is key for us, and for any team, and right now we have a confident goalkeeper."

Bradley Wright-Phillips continued his rich vein of form by scoring the lone goal of the match with his fifth strike in three games, which was set up by Thierry Henry's third assist in as many matches.

"If you can get it to (Henry) in that position, behind the defense, he's always going to make a play, and he made a great pass to Bradley," midfielder Dax McCarty said. "And Bradley did what he's been doing the past couple weeks, just being deadly in the box and obviously it was an important goal because it was the game-winner."

Chicago, on six points, is the last remaining club in MLS without a win this season. But the Fire have dropped just two games, preventing the club from being stranded alone at the bottom of the East - Frank Yallop's side shares the cellar with the Montreal Impact.

The Fire saw their run of six successive draws come to an end last time out as the club suffered a 3-2 loss to Real Salt Lake.

"Obviously it's piss-poor defending," Yallop said. "I don't think we really wanted to win that game because it didn't show. If we wanted to we would have tried, put our head through the ball and cleared things and be good at that stuff but we didn't. So it's back to the drawing board for us. I thought we were going somewhere but now we've had a total collapse in a game we should have won."

Chicago is three games shy of the MLS-record for the longest winless streak to start a season, when Real Salt Lake opened the 2007 campaign with an 0-5-6 mark.
