NFL DRAFT 2014: Jets' 1st-rounder Pryor not concerned about NFL's strict rules on contact

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – New York Jets first-round draft pick Calvin Pryor says he delivered clean hits in college and his physical style should translate fine in the NFL.

The former Louisville safety was known for his aggressive play and bone-rattling hits, something that attracted the Jets. While the NFL has strict rules on helmet-to-helmet contact, Pryor says at his introductory news conference Friday that he always uses his shoulder pads and doesn't lead with his helmet — so fines shouldn't be an issue for him.

Pryor's physical play has some comparing him to other hard-hitting safeties such as Tampa Bay's Dashon Goldson and Indianapolis' LaRon Landry, both of whom have been frequently fined for hits.

Pryor, who earned the nickname "Louisville Slugger" in college, was the No. 18 overall pick Thursday night.
