Valencia, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Atletico Madrid will hope to keep its hopes of a historic double in line on Sunday when the club heads to the Cuidad de Valencia to face Levante.

Diego Simeone's men have exceeded expectations this season by not only remaining in the title race so deep into the season, but by setting the pace in La Liga with an impressive 88 points through 35 games.

With first-place Atletico sitting four points clear of Barcelona and six points clear of Real Madrid (which holds a game in hand), the club needs just seven points from its final three league matches to clinch its first league title since 1996.

A La Liga title would be plenty for Atletico's supporters to celebrate, but the club won't be looking to settle for just one piece of silverware.

Los Rojiblancos booked a place in the Champions League final by getting a 3-1 win at Chelsea on Wednesday, overturning a first-half deficit to secure an all-Spanish finale where they will face local rival Real Madrid. It will mark Atletico's first Champions League final since 1974 and the first time that two clubs from the same city will square off in the European Cup final.

Thiago, who reached the Champions League final for the first time, expressed his pleasure in Wednesday's result.

"Winning here is not easy," the Portuguese midfielder said of life at Atletico. "We played well against a very good team and we are very happy to get to the final.

"We knew that if we scored a goal the situation for Chelsea would become more difficult. Scoring before halftime was very important for us as it gave us confidence. In the second half we were able to play in the spaces behind the Chelsea defense and we are very strong when we play like that."

First thing's first for Atletico, though: defeat a Levante side that is winless in its last four La Liga outings to secure a 10th straight league victory and take another big step toward history. Clearly, Thiago is not taking Sunday's league match lightly.

"It is unbelievable for us to play this final," he continued. "On Sunday we have another 'final' against Levante and maybe we have a possibility to win the league title as well. This season is a dream."

Barcelona and Real Madrid, meanwhile, will hope to match Atletico's result in their respective matches this weekend.

The Catalans will host a Getafe side that is hoping to stave off relegation on Saturday while Real Madrid, fresh off of its demolition of Bayern Munich in Champions League play, will welcome Valencia to the Bernabeu on Sunday.

The battle for La Liga survival is also heating up, and with Real Betis already assured a spot in the second division, Almeria and Valladolid will be hoping to avoid the same fate. Both clubs enter the weekend in the drop zone but will hope to climb out with wins over Betis and Espanyol, respectively.

Villarreal's hopes of sneaking into a Champions League qualification spot have been dashed following two successive league defeats, but the club will be hoping to end the season on high note by finishing strong, starting with a positive result at surging Sevilla on Sunday.

Rounding out Saturday's La Liga action, Malaga will host Elche at La Rosaleda while Celta Vigo will travel to El Sadar to square off with Osasuna.

Monday's lone league fixture will pit Real Sociedad against Granada at the Anoeta while Friday's only contest in the Spanish top flight saw Athletic Bilbao cruise to a 3-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano.
