Free agent quarterback Vince Young is taking a physical with the Browns and is expected to be in minicamp with the team this week.

Browns general manager Ray Farmer says the team has been closely tracking Young, who hasn't played in an NFL game since 2011. The 30-year-old played for Philadelphia that year, making three starts. He spent his first five seasons in the league with Tennessee.

Young has gone 31-19 as a starter and twice made the Pro Bowl.

The Browns are looking to add a veteran to back up Brian Hoyer, who is penciled in as the starter heading into this season but is coming off knee surgery.

Farmer said free agent quarterback Tyler Thigpen will also be in mini-camp this week. He last played for Buffalo in 2012.
