Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Pirates activated catcher Russell Martin from the 15-day disabled list on Thursday.

The 31-year-old backstop sustained a strained hamstring in a 1-0 Pirates' loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on April 25.

Prior to his stint on the disabled list, Martin was hitting .242 with two home runs and 11 RBI over 16 games this season.

To make room for Martin, the Pirates designated pitcher Wandy Rodriguez for assignment. Rodriguez went 0-2 with a 6.75 earned run average in six starts for the Pirates this season.
