Paris, France (SportsNetwork.com) - PSG is on the brink of clinching its second straight Ligue 1 title after a goal in the 89th minute from Blaise Matuidi handed the team a 1-0 win over Evian at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

Matuidi came off the bench in the 71st minute to replace Marco Verratti, and he sparked the PSG attack and ultimately provided the difference with a goal shortly before the final whistle.

The result takes PSG 10 points clear of second-place Monaco with four games to play, meaning that the capital club can clinch the title if Monaco loses at Ajaccio on Saturday, or if PSG beats Sochaux one day later.

Evian remains five points clear of the bottom three and has four games remaining to secure its place in the top flight for next season.

The visitors started well in Wednesday's match and had PSG back on its heels in the opening 10 minutes.

Daniel Wass struck a long-range effort against the post in the fifth minute for Evian before he forced PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu to make a fine stop to keep out a header five minutes later.

PSG began to get into the match after halftime, and things got easier for the hosts in the 61st minute when Evian's Kassim Abdallah received a second yellow card for a poor tackle on PSG's Lucas Digne.

The hosts really applied the pressure from there, but it wasn't until the 89th minute that they finally found a way through as Lucas Moura's through ball released Matuidi into the area, where he tucked a shot between the legs of goalkeeper Jesper Hansen.

Wednesday's other contest in Ligue 1 between Lyon and Toulouse ended in a 0-0 draw, leaving Lyon in fifth place, three points clear of sixth-place Marseille.
