Brisbane, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) - Angelique Kerber defeated Samantha Stosur as Germany swept Australia in the Fed Cup semifinals.

Kerber defeated for U.S. Open champion Samantha Stosur 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 to lead Germany to its third straight victory in the best-of-five tie.

"After the first set I was just thinking, 'play every single point for your team.' I'm happy about the whole week and that we're in the final," Kerber said.

The Germans will meet the Czech Republic-Italy victor in the Fed Cup final in November. That match takes place later on Sunday.

Germany returns to the Fed Cup final for the first time since 1992 when it defeated Spain.

Kerber converted eight break points in the match, which lasted just two hours and 14 minutes.

Australia fell to 8-5 all-time against Germany. Australia won the last meeting in a World Group Playoff in 2012. The two nations first met in 1966.
