Washington, D.C. (SportsNetwork.com) - Davy Arnaud's early goal proved to be the difference on Saturday as D.C. United earned a 1-0 result over Red Bull New York at RFK Stadium.

After claiming their first win of the season last week with a 2-0 win over the New England Revolution, United needed just four minutes to open the scoring on Saturday.

Former Red Bull Fabian Espindola set the scoring play in motion as he lofted a corner kick into the area that was flicked on by Bobby Boswell. Arnaud arrived at the back post to nod it past New York goalkeeper Luis Robles.

New York had several quality looks at goal through the course of the 90 minutes, none better than when Lloyd Sam found himself all alone at the penalty spot following a pass from Eric Alexander, but Sam's first-time effort in the 78th minute whistled wide of the right post.

New York sent numbers forward looking for an equalizer as the fourth official's board showed three minutes of extra time, but D.C.'s backline held firm to secure the club's first winning streak since 2012.

United improves to seven points from six games, while the Red Bulls remain winless this season with four draws and two defeats.
