Cadiz, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Marc Warren and David Horsey were tied atop the leaderboard Friday when the second round of the NH Collection Open was suspended due to darkness.
Warren fired a 5-under 67 to end 36 holes at 5-under-par 139. Horsey was 4- under par through 15 holes of his second round, and moved to minus-5 overall.
"My round didn't finish yesterday so I had to come back and play seven holes this morning and I played ok. At the start of the second round, I struggled a bit with concentration, but once I got it going I played really good," Warren said. "My long game was excellent, short game was good. I think I got the best out of my round today."
The tournament is still trying to catch up after heavy rain delayed the start of the tournament on Thursday. The second round will resume at 9 a.m. local time on Saturday at La Reserva de Sotogrande Club de Golf.
Felipe Aguilar carded a 3-under 69 to move to into a tie for third at 4-under 140. Adrian Otaegui and Bradley Dredge are also minus-4 through 15 and 12 holes respectively.
John Hahn carded a 4-under 68 to climb into sixth place at minus-2.
Warren played the back nine first on Friday and started with a two pars before he tripped to a bogey on the 12th. After two more pars, Warren dropped in back-to-back birdie efforts at 15 and 16 to get into red figures.
The Scotsman birdied the 18th to make the turn at minus-2. He parred five of the next six holes to go with a birdie on the par-4 third.
Warren, a two-time winner on the European Tour, birdied the seventh and ninth to get in at 5-under.
"Today and yesterday's conditions were pretty similar, obviously without the rain. The wind is going to stay pretty strong and it's going to be tough for the guys playing this afternoon," Warren stated. "I have been playing well the last few weeks, getting stronger and stronger, so I was really looking forward to this event. It's like a bonus event for us, coming at the last minute, and I am pleased to see how good the course actually is. I'm looking forward to the next two days."
Horsey stumbled to bogeys on one and two to fall to plus-1 overall. He bounced back with three birdies in a four-hole span from the fourth to jump back to minus-2.
The 28-year-old birdied the ninth a day after making bogey on that hole. He birdied the 11th and 13th to gain a piece of the lead. Horsey parred his next two holes before play was called for the day.
NOTES: Forty-five players need to complete their second rounds on Saturday morning ... Horsey also has two European Tour wins.
