St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Blue Jays have placed shortstop Jose Reyes on the 15-day disabled list with left hamstring tightness.

Reyes battled a hamstring problem late in spring training, missing the final five games in Florida. He played five innings in each of Toronto's two exhibition games in Montreal on Friday and Saturday, but left Monday's season- opener against Tampa Bay in the first inning.

The 30-year-old veteran flied out to lead off the game and did not come out to play in the field in the bottom of the frame.

An MRI taken on Tuesday revealed mild inflammation of the area.

Toronto filled Reyes' roster spot by selecting the contract of infielder Jonathan Diaz from Triple-A Buffalo.
