Ames, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chiney Ogwumike tallied 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the second-seeded Stanford Cardinal past the 10th-seeded Florida State Seminoles, 63-44, in second-round action of the NCAA Tournament at Hilton Coliseum.
Ogwumike shot 8-of-11 from the field for Stanford (31-3), which will take on the winner of the Florida/Penn State matchup in the Sweet 16. Lili Thompson added 14 points to the winning effort, while Bonnie Samuelson netted 11.
For FSU (21-12), Natasha Howard was the top performer with nine points and seven boards.
The Cardinal opened up a commanding 32-16 lead at intermission after shooting 54.5 percent from the field in the first half. The Seminoles, meanwhile, made good on a mere 25 percent of their tries from the floor.
Stanford barely broke a sweat in the second half, as its lead never dipped below 15.
FSU was plagued by a game-high 15 turnovers, which resulted in 19 points for Stanford.
